Congratulations on your pregnancy! What an exciting season of life you are just beginning! Throughout your pregnancy, I will provide emotional and physical support, working alongside you and your preferred birth partner(s) to prepare for your labor and birth. These visits are anything but business-like, as I strive to create a warm, comforting, and friendly dynamic with all the mommas and families I have the privilege to support. We will discuss your birth preferences, discuss and practice utilizing various comfort measures and birthing positions, as well as the stages of labor and its beautiful unpredictability. We will discuss your partner's role and plan for how they can support you in the ways you both desire. We will also discuss planning for postpartum and some of the things that you may be able to expect during this new season of life you are about to enter. From 37 weeks gestation, I will be available by phone 24/7 to provide support and await the beginning of your labor.
During your labor and birth, I will offer my unlimited emotional and physical support to you and your birth partner(s). Depending on our previous discussions and the comfort level of your birth partner(s), I will make recommendations to your birth partner(s) for comfort measures and birth positions to try, including the use of my personal Obi TENS unit, make suggestions to maintain your health and well being, and will take a more hands-on approach, if needed or desired. I will educate and advocate for your desires throughout your labor and birth. I will remain with your family through the duration of the birth, assist with breastfeeding and other means of feeding, and ensure you feel comfortable and settled following the birth. I will take keepsake photographs and videos of the labor and birth experience for you to have, if desired.
I know, firsthand, that the postpartum experience can be any and all things — beautiful, exciting, intense, overwhelming, exhausting, memorable, and more. I am here to provide day-time support for you and your family by doing light housework, meal prepping, assisting with newborn care and breastfeeding, talking with you to debrief your birth experience, and acting as an emotional support and friend to you during this sacred, vulnerable, and intimate season of life.
